How do you feel about book to movie adaptations? Is it a do or don’t?

So I’m not much into T.V. or movies BUT I will say some book to movie adaptations turn out really well! Example, Transformers, Iron Man, The Avengers (okay so most of these are comics but hey they were really really good) and by far one of the MOST SUCCESSFUL book to movie adaptations, Harry Potter!! I’m all for making the adaptation because lets be honest, the best movies come from books but….

Sometimes book to movie adaptations turn out really really BAD! Example, Twilight #1 it was horrible, another example, Memoirs of a Geisha! I really loved that book and really hated the movie, it was so boring!

The Devil Wears prada turned into a fantastic movie, so did the rest of the Twilight saga after movie number 1 and I wound up really liking Eragon as well so I guess all in all. I fully support book to movie adaptations so long as the directors and writers do right by the book! Nothing drives me more crazy than when I’m watching a movie after having read the book and the entire time I’m think “WTF, this is not how it happens!!”

I happen to be a big Vampire Diaraies fan (have not read the books) but I know a lot of people who have and changes in the story drive them nuts, thats how I feel about the True Blood series, LOVED Sookie Stackhouse books, but couldn’t make it past the first season of True Blood.

BUT..I am super duper really crazy excited for the Cassandra Clare Books to be made into a movie and I am sooo nervous about 50 Shades of Grey (They better not mess that one up!) LOL

So how do you feel about book to movie adaptations? I’d love to know in the comments below. (Hey I rhymed!)
