British vampire psychiatrist and former mercenary Cage Reynolds returns to Penton, Alabama, looking for a permanent home. The town has been ravaged by the ongoing vampire war and the shortage of untainted human blood, and now the vampires and humans that make up the Omega Force are trying to rebuild. Cage hopes to help the cause, put down roots in Penton, and resolve his relationship with Melissa Calvert. The last thing he expects is to find himself drawn to Robin Ashton, a trash-talking eagle shape-shifter and new Omega recruit.

Meanwhile, as a dangerous saboteur wreaks havoc in Penton, the ruthless Vampire Tribunal leader Matthias Ludlam has been freed on the eve of his scheduled execution. But by whom? And to what end? As war and chaos rage on, love isn’t something Cage is looking for, but will his attraction to Robin distract him from the danger living among them?

my thoughts I don’t know why I waited so long to read the 4th installment in the Penton Legacy because it was so deliciously good and was completely unexpected. Having read books 1-3 I’m a big fan of the series but I went into Allegiance with what I thought to be a good idea of what was going to happen with Cage and Melissa but boy was I wrong. Sandlin filled book four full of surprises as she led us on an adventure to rebuild Penton and get rid of Mathias once and for all. I was pleasantly surprised by the outcome of Cage and Melissa’s relationship and was intrigued by Robin’s character. The introduction of shifters in the story was also a pleasant addition. In Allegiance we see some old faces and make some new friends. It was a great story that was action packed and filled with twists and turns that I thoroughly enjoyed. If you’re a fan of Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance, this one is for you. It dots every “i” and crosses every “t” giving readers everything they’re looking for and more.4 half coffee cupsabout the author Susannah Sandlin is a native of Winfield, Alabama, and has worked as a writer/editor in educational publishing in Alabama, Illinois, Texas, California, and Louisiana.
