Title: Tempt the Stars
Author: Karen Chance
Series: Cassandra Palmer #6

Being a goddess is a lot less fun than you might think. Especially when you’re only a half goddess, and you only found out about it recently, and you still don’t know what you’re doing half the time. And when you’ve just used your not-so-reliable powers to burglarize the booby-trapped office of a vampire mob boss.

Yeah, that part sucks.

But that’s just the tip of the iceberg for Cassandra Palmer, aka the Pythia, the freshly minted chief seer of the supernatural world. After all, Cassie still has to save a friend from a fate worse than death, deal with an increasingly possessive master vampire, and prevent a party of her own acolytes from unleashing a storm of fury upon the world. Totally just your average day at the office, right?

Tempt the Stars is captivating from start to finish. Karen Chance takes the reader on an adventure of epic proportions that leaves the reader desperate for more. Tempt the Stars is book 6 in the Cassandra Palmer series but happens to be the first book in the series that I read. Want to know what I did as soon as I finished? I ordered books 1-5 on amazon because Tempt the Stars was that AMAZING. I have not been so wrapped up in a book since Ilona Andrew’s Kate Daniels series. I found myself thinking I’d read another chapter or two and wound up reading until 4am and still had a hard time putting the book down, and Pritkin, my God I love that guy! The ups and downs of this story had me riding an emotional roller coaster that I never wanted to end and then when it did, I was shocked. I was sad and angry and happy all at the same time because things didn’t work out the way I thought they would and Chance had me so confused for a while there, wondering why she would let this happen. Why she would do this to Pritkin, to Cassie. I was so angry for a while there and then well, then it was like a complete 180 and it worked out but it didn’t at the same time. Ahh it was so amazingly frustrating. I don’t know how to put into words just how great this book was, is. You just really have to give it a try because trust me when I say, you won’t be able to put it down.
Karen Chance has created a vivid world where vampires, clairvoyants, magic users, fairies, werewolves and witches exist alongside humans. The Cassandra Palmer Series is a fast-paced, entertaining adventure in the best tradition of contemporary, supernatural fiction. It is an expert blend of mystery, suspense, romance and the supernatural.
