Together but unbound, they must learn what it means to love completely, in the latest novel from the New York Times bestselling author of Wild Wolf.

To cement the leadership of his North Carolina Shiftertown, Bowman O’Donnell agreed to a “mating of convenience.” Two powerful wolf shifters, he and Kenzie keep the pack in order and are adored by all. Bowman would do anything to protect Kenzie, for in each other’s arms they’ve found far more than friendship. But as strong as their attachment is, they still haven’t formed the elusive mate bond—the almost magical joining of true mates.

Now with a monster ravaging the countryside and threatening the Shiftertown community, some in the pack fear that a pair without a true mate bond isn’t strong enough to lead. Bowman and Kenzie will have to rely on their instinctive trust in one another to save their Shifters—and the ensuing battle will either destroy them or give them the chance to seize the love they’ve always craved.

my thoughts

Bowman and Kenzie are already mated though they mated out of necessity, to settle the tension between rivaling packs after being pulled into Shiftertowns by the human government. There is no mistaking the chemistry between these two but there is also so much tension because they lack in their relationship what every mated shifter couple looks for, the mate bond. The lack of the bond makes tensions run high and adds a level of instability to the pack who know that, should either find their true mate, their relationship will be dissolved and chaos will once again ensue between the packs. These two love one another, their is no denying that, but every time they have sex its like they just wait and hold their breath to see if the bond will form.

Mate Bond has so many ups and downs. You feel for these two who care about each other so much but can’t seem to find what they are looking for, and then the unbelievable happens and their relationship is truly put to the test. My eyes actually watered when I thought Kenize and Bowman would be unable to make it work, that they wouldn’t in fact find happiness in each others arms but Jennifer Ashley throws in a twist at nearly every turn and gives us a story that has you biting your nails and crossing your fingers, hoping for the best for these two.

I absolutely enjoyed reading Mate Bond and would read it again in a heartbeat. A great addition to the paranormal romance genre.
